Well my baby boy finally made it into this world exactly two weeks ago. Life has been pretty hectic since then with many a sleepless nights.
Although tiring, I’m loving every single moment with Joshua!

I finally managed to connect to the internet from home today. The dial-up line that I’m connecting from though is excruciatingly, painfully slow and keeps disconnecting frequently.
The good news is I’m going to be a ‘new home owner’ soon and thankfully SLT provides ADSL to Thalawathugoda.
What this all means though is that I’ll be able to blog more often in the future.
Wow. I just remembered that I had a blog.
I’ve been quite busy the last three to four weeks putting some of my personal development items in place. The biggest changes has been inspired by a combination of reading Steve Pavlina, The Seven Habits and Getting Things Done.
I now sleep only 6.5 hours a day, wake up at 5 am, head over to the cricket grounds at Tamil Union. At the grounds I’m joined by Kavinda and Wansika, we jog about five rounds around the ground and do another five with a brisk walk. Next we hit the showers and I then do a quick 20 laps at the pool before coming back to office by around 8.00–8.30 am.
And boy does it really energise your day. My best part of the morning is the cool feel of the wet grass under my feet and listening to the early morning sounds of the chirping birds. I’ll try to post a few pics sometime soon.
My memberships fees to join Tamil Union has been one of the best investments I’ve made in my life. I just spent Rs. 6,500/– to become a club member which included a Rs. 3000/– joining fee.
It’s been a long time since my last post and I being kept away from
regular blogging due to a number of things. Between the hectic work at
office and some of my other commitments which includes searching for a
new home in Colombo, I’ve been sort of drowning and grasping for breath
in the last couple of months.
To add to this I downloaded and installed Vista the day it was
released. Would you believe it that I have had no problems with any of
my applications with the exception of BlogJet. This limited me to
posting from the dasBlog web interface which is not really my ideal
client for blogging.
Imara suffers a lot from Migraine and last week was a terrible one for her with a four day migraine that wouldn’t leave.
This prompted me to start reading up on the disease (not just a bad headache) and the Migraine Myths page was a real eye-opener.
Myth: A migraine is just a bad headache.
Reality: Migraine is a disease, a headache is only a symptom. In addition, the cause of migraine pain is the opposite of the cause of headache pain.
Myth: Migraine is caused by psychological factors, such as stress and depression.
Reality: Migraine is a neurological disease, not a psychological disorder.
Myth: Migraine is not life threatening, just annoying.
Reality: Migraine can be life threatening, inducing such conditions as stroke and coma.
Myth: Any doctor will recognise and properly treat migraine.
Reality: Migraine is one of the most misdiagnosed, mistreated and least understood diseases.
The doctor whom we consulted at Apollo hospital was extremely helpful and went into great detail on how we could deal with Migraine. Unfortunately there is no cure and the only weapon that we have is to try to cut the migraine attack before it start running it’s full course.
This was his advice to us: Just as you notice a migraine coming on take one anti-migraine tablet (Imigran, Sandomigraine) if after about 30 minutes it doesn’t recede take one more. But you should never take more than 2 tablets a day and a total of 6 tablets a week. Remember that you need to always consult your physician before taking any of these medication.
Okay, I admit it. I’m a J.K. Rowling fan. (FYI: I’m a serious Dan Brown fan too, oh and James Herriot as well.)
I’m into the third Harry Potter book and I’m loving it. It’s a bit weird though to have first seen the film and then read the book.
I’ve made myself a promise though that this would be the last book I read for a long time while I spend more of my free time getting a hang on all the new Whideby stuff, I’m especially intrigued by Team System.
Well what do you know, my brother Julius has started blogging. Subscribed.
MSN Spaces is making it so easy for anyone to start blogging and sharing photos.
Dammika wanted to know where the hell I was. Things have been pretty hectic for me since I landed in Colombo last Tuesday morning.
Let me see… On Tuesday I went back to office for our weekly conference call, Wednesday I had to go to Mizra’s birthday party (Imara’s bro), Thursday back at work again, Friday work, badminton, Chalani’s wedding. Saturday went to Kandy to bring back my car. Sunday shifted houses, I now live at Thalawatugoda with the Sonnadara brothers. We also went out to MIT and had a cool swim to relax off the weekend!
I’ve been having a lot of fun with my new camera. This is a pic from Chalani’s wedding with Madura, Dishnika, Ashan and me at the top trying to place a horn on Dish

My brother and sister teamed up to buy me this, so to return the favor I bought Julius (my small bro) one heck of an MP3 player. I ordered the SanDisk 1GB player from Amazon and I feared that the sound quality poor.
The first thing I did was to hook it up to my machine and copy my files over. My first surprise was how fast the copy went when compared with the Creative Muvo that Microsoft gave us MVPs. The second surprise was that this sounded better than the Muvo. Man am I envious now, my 128MB feels really cheap compared to the 1GB player (FM tuner included). Well, at least I get to use it on my long lay-overs on the way back to Colombo.

It’s my last day here in Boston, so I cleaned up my desk and took a snap to capture the moment. Look at how MSF is all the rage now.
